These spinach, feta and basil savoury muffins are the ideal healthy snack for the lunchbox.

Makes 12


2 ½ cups self-raising flour
250g of fresh shredded spinach
150g feta
2 tbsp grated parmesan
1 cups milk
90g melted butter
1 egg
1 tbsp chopped fresh basil


1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Lightly grease muffin pan with butter.

2. Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl. Add shredded spinach, crumbled feta, parmesan and stir until combined.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, butter, egg, and chopped basil until combined, then pour this into the flour mixture and combine.

4. Carefully spoon (or use a pouring jug) the mixture into the muffin tins, filling each spot roughly halfway. Bake for 20 minutes and they’re ready! These muffins are an ideal savoury snack for busy brains.

These homemade muesli bars are delicious to take to school or work, or make a yummy quick breakfast full of goodness.


3 cups muesli
1 cup sultanas
¾ cup honey
½ cup cacao nibs
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
1 tsp cinnamon
50g butter


1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a rectangular slice tin with baking paper.

2. In a pan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter and honey. Continue stirring for 5 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved.

3. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 2 minutes to thicken the syrup. Remove from heat.

4. Combine the muesli, pumpkin seeds, cacao nibs and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot syrup over it and combine.

5. Spoon the mixture into the rectangular slice tin and press down to ensure the entire surface is covered.

6. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until crisp. When it’s done, set the pan aside to cool completely. Once entirely cool, cut into strips of desired size.

These deliciously spooky monster bites are the perfect snack for your Halloween Party. 

Makes roughly 17 monster bites


125g softened butter
2 cups plain flour
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla essence
Peanuts or oats
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 bar milk or dark chocolate, finely chopped


1. Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla together until you achieve a light and fluffy texture. Add in the egg as you continue beating the mixture.

2. Sift flour and baking powder into the bowl and combine thoroughly.

3. Shape a heaped teaspoon of the mixture into a round, flat biscuit shape and place on the oven tray. Sprinkle the top with peanuts or oats to create a ghoulish, warty texture.

4. Bake at 190c for about 12 minutes or until golden brown. Take out of oven and transfer to a rack to cool.

5. When the biscuits are cool, prepare the chocolate for the decorating process. Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl that fits on top of a saucepan.

6. Fill the saucepan half-way with water and bring to a simmer. Place your bowl with chocolate on top, ensuring it does not touch the water. Stir with a metal spoon until melted.

7. Once biscuits have cooled off, flip the biscuits upside-down and spoon on some melted chocolate. Place a second biscuit on top to create a monster head.

8. Add facial features with mini marshmallows. Use the chocolate as glue to stick them down and hold them in place, creating eyeballs and pointy teeth. Don’t forget two tiny drops of melted chocolate to create the pupils of your monsters. Be careful, they may bite you back!
