SUPERHEROES IN THE PARKLANDS

SUPERHEROES IN THE PARKLANDS

A program highlight for 2018 Cairns Festival, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra will fill Munro Martin Parklands with the sounds of popular cinema soundtracks, presenting ‘Superheroes’.

Taking place on Saturday 1 September, a full 60-piece orchestra will perform famous musical scores from such films as Superman, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Under the baton of conductor Guy Noble, families and film-lovers are invited to soar high in the sky with exhilarating music from some of the greatest soundtracks of all time.

Also featured in this program are two emotive works arranged by Cairns local Rubina Kimiia, and performed by group Sounds of AustraNesia and soloist Edward Lampton.

“The Queensland Symphony Orchestra has not performed in Cairns since 2015 and this will be their first time at the spectacular Munro Martin Parklands,” Cr Cooper said.

“This really is an event not to be missed.”
