At 12 years old, Carah Connolly has a lot to look forward to. Next year she will be entering year eight at North Mackay State School and she is hoping to achieve her Black Belt in karate.
However, the bright, spunky and beautiful preteen is also on her way to international fame in modelling, a pathway that literally just fell into her lap last year.
Raised since infancy by her father, Greg Connolly, Carah has always stood out for her beauty. At the age of five she was scouted by a local photographer who wanted her to model but Greg thought she was too young.
Greg, who is a single dad, enrolled his only child into Brooke Lee Modelling and Deportment School when she was 11. Without a female role model in Carah’s immediate family, Greg wanted Carah to “learn how to do the things a dad can’t teach a young lady, like makeup, hair, etc.”
Carah surprised everyone by not only taking to modelling right away, but by winning the “Rising Star Award” at the Academy last year. Since she started on her modelling journey, she has also been crowned Headline Star Model for Isabella Photography Mackay and has performed at the RACQ Rescue Model Search and the Brooke Lee Studio for Arts Australia.
It was at the Brooke Lee Studio for Arts Australia event in June where Greg realised just how talented is daughter really is. During this event Carah was scouted by Amanda Obrien Managing Director at OzLink Talent Melbourne.
“Carah Connolly is one of the most naturally gifted young models I have seen in a long time,” Amanda writes. “Her striking colouring and natural elegance are great assets for a career in front of the camera and I’m very excited about what this next opportunity could do for her.”
And, for Carah, the opportunity of a lifetime is in reach – she has been offered the chance to represent Australia at Disney Swan Resort Orlando Florida Modelling Showcase in July 2017.
The young model will be competing against girls from all over the world is three categories –
Photographic Modelling, Swimwear Modelling and Television/Commercial Modelling. The judges of the competition consist of 40 of the top agents and fashion experts in the world.
“It is a very big step for such a young lady to even have offered to her let alone attempt to take advantage of,” Greg tells PakMag.
And the single dad is doing all he can to help ensure his daughter gets to follow this dream.
Greg is now looking for sponsors and funding to help with Carah’s journey. BB Print Mackay, Blessed Hair Lounge Mackay and Loren Jon Photography Mackay are all on board to help the promising star achieve her dreams.
You can support this rising star through her GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/2b6557td) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/carahconnollymodel).
