They’ve been described as the Brawn and Brains, and Townsville residents Caroline and Kingi have been taking Australia by storm, one brick at a time on the 11th season of The Block.

PakMag was lucky enough to sit down with Kingi, a renderer, and Caro, a business development manager, motivator and triathlete, to discuss what’s on the horizon after The Block.

Tell us about your family:

The best way to describe our family would be easy-going and laid back. I would say we are a very loud family as well! Always laughing and we are all very talkative including our three year old, Halia who never shuts up…I wonder who she gets that from!

What has been your favourite moment in parenting so far?

There are too many moments to choose from! I think the best moments with her happen every day. I love it when I catch her with her friends at daycare and she doesn’t know I’m there watching her.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

We all have the same 24 hours…you decide how you use them.

What made you decide to run for The Block?

Sitting down watching The Block like most Australian families do I thought we could do this! So I thought I might as well apply online without telling Kingi thinking we would never get the call and we did!! So honoured that we got chosen out of so many other applicants! It was the hardest thing that we have done but also the most fun we have ever had. It was such an emotional roller coaster ride but we are very happy with our end result. We just hope we make Townsville and North Queensland proud and we all have a few laughs along the way!

Any exciting opportunities on the horizon?

We are the Ambassadors for ‘Haven’ by Ellis Developments. It’s a brand new 200-home master planned estate offering cutting-edge family house designs at the base of Castle Hill and only 2kms from The Strand. It’s amazing! Complete with a central parkland, bike paths, Sunday Yoga sessions and surrounded by 3 of Townsville’s best parks, it will be a great asset for the City. There’s even before & after school care at the PCYC located within 500metres of Haven so its awesome for families wanting to live near town. We want to show this beautiful city to Australia. Haven is a good fit for us as it fits with our philosophy on life. We are proud of living here in Townsville and hope to bring a lot more attention to the area by being on the show.
