May fun in Mackay – what’s on this weekend
Mackay is the place to be this weekend with plenty of fun activities planned for the entire family. Here’s our top picks:
National Day of Thanks Community Festival
Let’s start at Jubilee Park, Mackay on Saturday 28 May where there will be free food, entertainment, family activities and drinks. Yes, that’s right, food and drinks are free!
Enjoy the day out from 10am to 3pm at Jubilee Park (Alfred Street near City Library). It’s a day to encourage thankfulness – celebrating and appreciating our blessings. Parents, grandparents, carers and relatives of all ages welcome!
Mega Cent Sale in support of the Kidney Support Network
Next, we’re off to North Mackay Bowls Club for the Mega Cent Sale. Starting at 1pm on May 28, there will be over 200 prizes to be won, Kidney Op Shop fashion parade. Admission is $5.00 and tickets can be pre-purchased.
Greenmount Homestead Heritage Fair
On Sunday, head over to the Heritage Fair at Greenmount Homestead. Take a step back in time and experience what life was like in the early 1920’s.
Rolling green meadows, a breathtaking view, rides, attractions, scrumptious food, local produce and crafts, and all the charm of a classic country fair.
The fair starts at 9am to 3pm at Greenmount Homestead, Walkerston. Activities include billycart racing, horse and carriage rides, vintage working machinery, local crafts and produce, Devonshire teas plus live music, hands-on art activities and more.
Parking is not an issue, as there is a park and ride bus running from Kellys Road, Walkerston. http://www.mackay.qld.gov.au/community/events/heritage_fair
Open Day at the Mackay Botanic Gardens
Another great option for this weekend is the Open Day at The Botanic Gardens from 7am to 4pm.
