HEALTHY LIVING… ONE STEP AT A TIME
I recently set myself a goal to jump back into exercise and eat healthier, with the support from my family and work team I managed to commit to this goal and I’m definitely finding a healthier balance with a demanding work lifestyle. These changes may be small, but each step makes a difference.
When it comes to exercising and eating healthier, we all have the best intentions but motivation levels can go up and down like a yoyo. I guess we need to continually remind ourselves why we even considered a healthier lifestyle and this thought process helps guide my motivation.
Townsville is home to several sporting teams, national, state and local. Professional sports people are an icon of healthy living and our younger generations look up to their favourite sports person which is encouraging to know it’s not only the sporting status this child sees in these sports stars, but an image of a health and fitness.
Speaking of sports starts, it was an honour to recently meet with JCU Townsville Fire members, our local Women’s National Basketball team, to commit a further $50,000 to extend their Youth Engagement Program under the Palaszczuk Government. The program is about encouraging young women and girls to become involved in sport, becoming active and making healthy life choices. Well done Townsville Fire!
The State Government have multiple funding programs available, one being the Get Started Vouchers to assist children and young people who can least afford, or may otherwise benefit from, joining a sport or active recreation club. Eligible children and young people can apply for a voucher valued up to $150, which can be redeemed at a sport or recreation club that has registered for the Get Started Vouchers program.
