HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES TO EASTER EGGS
Easter used to be all about chocolate, but with lots of families more aware of the added sugars and additives contained in our foods they are looking for some alternatives to the traditional haul of high sugar Easter eggs we have consumed in the past.
Well, fear not, there are alternatives out there. How about some gluten, dairy, refined sugar free chocolate coated almonds? The best part about these is they are the exact shape of the traditional Easter egg. Or you could even make your own healthy version of chocolate using raw cacao butter, cacao powder, maple syrup or honey, vanilla and a pinch of salt. Melt it all down and use some egg or bunny shaped moulds and you have a healthy, tasty alternative.
Give the kids a lunchbox filled with carrot sticks (why not? The Easter Bunny eats them!), chocolate coated strawberries, add some fruit cut into Easter shapes and you have yourself a little hamper that will promote not only healthier eating but less waste lunches in the year ahead!
And for adults, why not treat yourself too. Try some beautiful herbal teas such as French Earl Grey, or Epsom salt and rose bliss bath bombs. Who says that Easter has to be about chocolate?
For the die-hard chocolate fans though, perhaps try get your fix plus a side of healthy. From raspberries and blueberries, to coconut and nuts, the list of chocolate covered foods is endless!
