Greatest Show from Africa in Mackay

100% African. 100% fun. Cirque Africa is a one of a kind show that is sure to amaze and enthral all who see it.

Mackay audiences will finally experience what the rest of Australia has been talking about when the exotic extravaganza that is Cirque Africa performs at the Mackay Entertainment  & Convention Centre for one night only on July 4.

This is not your typical circus. Cirque Africa is an amazing extravaganza of music, dance, comedy and acrobatic skill, celebrating the strength, flexibility and agility of eye-catching human bodies at their best.

Colourful African costumes, catchy music and dance routines along with gravity-denying skills make this a first-rate show packed with high-energy fun to delight the whole family.

It’s like The Lion King on steroids, with a lot of fun, straight out of Africa. The cast of 25 performing artists from six African countries includes dancers, percussionists, musicians, acrobats and contortionists who twist and turn, spin all manner of things with their feet, hang off bars, build human pyramids and defy gravity.

It’s an interactive mix of dance, acrobatics and comedy that will leave you laughing one moment and your jaw dropped the next. The world-class routines are perfect for young one’s who have outgrown the usual kiddie shows and for the young at heart who may think they have seen it all.

A live ensemble performs the hugely likeable traditionalstyle music that has been composed for each act and dance routine, adding to Cirque Africa’s fresh, funky, bold and fun appeal.

Cirque Africa is produced and directed by Papa Africa aka Winston Ruddle. He has managed to create a vibe that is both traditional and coolly urban. He also infuses the show, in his role as MC or Ringmaster, with traditional clown-style comedy and oversees a class act with audience participation.

The troupe have been touring Australia for two years and show no signs of slowing down. They have left a trail of impressed audiences from Melbourne and Sydney to Western Australia and points in between, and have achieved a 4.5 star review for their performances at this year’s Adelaide Fringe festival.
