Frozen poo could be the magic pill when it comes to weight loss
Think apple cider vinegar tastes bad? Prepare to gag over the latest experiment to help combat obesity. This is a hard pill to swallow….
Frozen faeces. This is one of the ingredients in the latest capsule designed to help those struggling with weight loss. Twenty participants will be given the capsules, which contain several grams of human poo, donated from fit and healthy donors who have had their poo scanned for infection, bacteria and other health complications.
The lucky twenty will have to swallow the freeze-dried ‘fit’ poo every week for six weeks all the while maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen to go with it. The results will be available at six weeks, three months and 12 months.
While this isn’t the first time poo has been used to treat complications (such as gut infections), researchers remain hesitant.
“We have no idea what the result will be,” lead researcher Elaine Yu stated.
Will frozen poo soon be sold in our chemists? We will just have to wait and see.
