Soon you’ll be able to see Cairns from a whole new angle with a huge Ferris Wheel making its way to the Cairns Esplanade. The Wheel is to be named ‘The Reef Eye ‘during its stay in the Far North.
Australia’s highest, continuously travelling Ferris Wheel is coming to Cairns for a three-month trial. It has previously been featured at iconic festivals and shows around the country, including Vivid Sydney at Darling Harbour, Moomba Festival in Melbourne and The Ekka in Brisbane.
The staggering 35-metre high attraction will be able to accommodate up to 700 people an hour providing stunning 360-degree views through fully enclosed, plexiglass-wrapped gondolas.
In the daytime, you’ll be able to see far and wide from the mountains to the sea and everything in between, while at nighttime an LED lighting system with 35 changing patterns will light up the town.
To ride The Reef Eye, it’s $10 for an adult, $8 for children under 12 and free for children under 2. Plus, if you mention you’re a local at the ticket booth you’ll receive a special local discount.
Operation of the Ferris Wheel is set to start on Friday 30th August.
Will you be going on it?
