The Red Beret Hotel located on the corner of Kamerunga and Intake Roads Redlynch Cairns was built in the early 1900’s. Originally called the Redlynch Hotel a former owner, Max Gorman, renamed the Hotel The Red Beret after his regiment in the Australian Army. Today it’s often referred to as the Red Hat or just The Hat by the many locals who enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the cold beer.

The Hotel has undergone recent refurbishment, as old Queenslanders need from time to time, but whilst the façade and some of the amenity has changed, a strong emphasis has also been placed on ensuring that the feel of the Hotel hasn’t been lost. The Publc Bar is home to our History Wall featuring early Cane Cutters from the Redlynch area and shots of the very first Hotel in Redlynch, The Terminus Hotel which doubled as the Railway House on the other side of the road before burning down and being replaced by the Redlynch Hotel (now Red Beret).
